We all need an infusion of courage from time to time. Or, in my case, basically on a daily basis. Fortunately for those who earnestly seek to know God and live a life worthy of his call, we have a wonderful Book full of reasons why we should not fear.
The Bible contains about 365 verses that tell us not to be afraid. Usually when God repeats Himself, it means we need to pay attention. He doesn’t speak these words for His own encouragement, but for ours.
God wants us to know how courageous we can be through Him, if we just believe.
Here are 15 powerful Bible verses to build your courage when fear presses in on you.
“Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you.”
“…Stand firm. Let nothing move you.”
“The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
“For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”
“Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.”
“Jesus told him, ‘Don’t be afraid; just believe.’”
“They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the LORD.”
“So we say with confidence, ‘The LORD is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can Man do to me?’”
“Finally, be strong in the LORD and in His mighty power.”
“You will not need to fight in this battle. Stand firm, hold your position, and see the salvation of the LORD on your behalf,…”
“Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident.”
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”
“As soon as I pray, you answer me; you encourage me by giving me strength.”
Which of these speak the loudest to you?
In courage,
I love that last verse from the Psalms. What a gift that God is with us so literally that we can talk to Him anytime!!

Isaiah 41 helped me survive a dark time on the mission field. I still come back to verses 10 and 14 often. Thanks for the reminder!

Sara,
Thank you, these are super reminders. You should maybe publish a little calendar with a verse a day.
