Cupcakes for breakfast and other wise choices I’ve made recently

“It’s Friday, Mommy. You sometimes get us donuts on Fridays.” My daughter looked at me with saucer eyes and pronounced pout. Her older sister lurked into the room, watching us carefully.

They sometimes team up. Almost always for the sake of a treat of some kind. It’s fun.

This was the Friday before Christmas, 8:37 a.m. Seven decades worth of winter break stretched out ahead of us, a tundra of off-routine children full of energy and laments.

The battle for my composure had only begun.

Sometimes we must fight with resistance. Sometimes we must fight with strategy.

The choice I should have made a long time ago

So where were we?

Oh, yes. Last we spoke, I had returned from a month-long break from blogging and social media to focus more time in worship, and I said God had revealed a new vision for my writing life.

For those who question the sanity of anyone who says God reveals things to them, please know I once shared your line of thinking. I also once questioned the sanity of anyone who loved coffee. That was before caramel macchiatos came into my life.

We all have our maturing to do.
